Rookie Bradley Beal will return after missing the past six games with a sprained left ankle as the Wizards host the Phoenix Suns and attempt to win five consecutive games at home. Beal will not start.
The Wizards (22-42) went 3-3 without Beal but have won their past two against Milwaukee and New Orleans. In three games this week, John Wall is averaging 26.3 points, 11 assists and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 59.2 percent from the field. He had a season-high 14 assists in a loss to Cleveland and a season-high 29 points on 12 of 15 shooting in Friday’s 96-87 win over New Orleans.
The team will still be shorthanded with A.J. Price (right groin), Trevor Ariza (sore left knee) and Chris Singleton (personal reasons) forced to sit. Singleton had to attend a funeral.
Phoenix has won 10 consecutive games over the Wizards, but the Suns (22-44) have undergone a dramatic transformation after dealing Steve Nash to the Los Angeles Lakers last summer and currently are tied with New Orleans for the worst record in the Western Conference. The Wizards last defeated the Suns on Dec. 22, 2006.
