America’s hunger crisis in one graph
The number of Americans who say they can afford enough food to feed their families is approaching a three-year low, according to a new poll. Gallup tracks the percentage of Americans who say they’ve had enough money to feed their families, and that number has plummeted to 79.8 percent. In other words, for nearly 20 percent of Americans, there’s been a time in the last year that they haven’t had enough food for themselves or their families. According to Gallup, that’s about as bad as things were in November 2008, at the very start of the economic crisis.
