Reconciliation

By Ezra Klein,

Recap: The Gang of 64 sent a very odd letter to President Obama; an explanation of what the health-care reform waivers are all about; and why the bully pulpit often makes it harder, rather than easier, to pass legislation.

Elsewhere:

1) “When it comes to social criticism, no one, it seems, has an exit strategy.”

2) The Urban Institute doesn’t buy GOP claims that health-care reform is big a job-killer nor Democratic claims that it’s a big job creator.

3) Cutting funding for immunization against whooping cough is almost the definition of how to lose the future.

4) Same goes, i think, for cutting food stamps while we preserve farm subsidies.

Recipe of the day: Salted-caramel cheesecake.
