The sequester, as of last week, was a tale of harmful budget cuts that could hit everyone from teachers to medical researchers.
As of this afternoon, it has devolved into a scuttle over White House tours and golf games.
It started with an announcement from the The White House that it would halt public tours due to the sequester cuts. Tours are on hiatus “until further notice,” according to a recording on the White House visitor’s information line.
This led Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) to launch a Congressional counterattack. So long as public tours are on hold, Gohmert proposed in an amendment today, no public funds ought to be “used to transport the President to or from a golf course.” The amendment, in all of its 33 word glory, is included below.
