The end of emergency unemployment benefits, in one chart

Unemployment is still at a historic high, but the extra money that the government doles out during economic emergencies has nearly dried up. The Congressional Budget Office put together a chart showing how emergency unemployment benefits—funded by the federal government on top of regular unemployment insurance—have been nearly phased out. The fiscal cliff deal did extend them for one more year, so they're now scheduled to expire at the end of 2013:
