Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani women's rights activist who was shot by Taliban militants in October for her work educating girls, has released a video statement to the world. Her video, embedded above, credits her recovery to people around the world who have prayed for her and announces the Malala Fund, which would continue her work.
Vital Voices, a U.S.-based international advocacy organization, will be administering the fund. The Vital Voices CEO told Time magazine in December that the Malala Fund founders "wanted to incubate an organization that she would one day run."
According to the BBC, she recorded the video before undergoing another surgery. Yousufzai, who was shot in the head in the Taliban's attempted assassination, has endured a long series of surgeries in her recovery.
A longer version of her video also includes her statement in Urdu.
