Stark before-and-after images of Kiev’s Independence Square

Protesters remain encamped and fires continue to blaze in Kiev's Independence Square a day after violent clashes between protesters and government forces left more than two dozen dead.

The deadly turn came after three months of protests in Ukraine's capital and around the country. The panoramic image and videos below illustrate the extent of the damage to the city from the clashes there.

Max Fisher originally posted this panoramic photo in December. It's by AirPano, a not-for-profit organization of Russian photographers, and was taken Dec. 8.

Compare that with Ruptly's drone camera footage from the same area, also known as the Maidan, shot Wednesday afternoon. (A laser beam believed to be from a police officer disrupts the footage at a few points.)

Here's another angle from earlier Wednesday:

Footage shot from an aerial drone camera early Wednesday shows the damage to Kiev following violent protests that left at least 25 people dead. (Ruptly.TV)
