1. Financial investment-related services, including portfolio management, investment advice and brokerages are poised to be in high demand as the nation continues to grapple with an ailing economy. Sales of financial services have risen 12 percent in the past year, according to SageWorks, and analysts say they expect even more growth in the coming year.

2. Computer systems design and related services

3. Home health care services are slated to be in high demand as Baby Boomers begin to turn 65. Industry-wide sales increased more than 10 percent in the past year.

4. Day care services for infants and children are gaining ground in the recovering economy as parents resume their job searches and return to work, according to Nicole Wolfgang, an economist at SageWorks.

5. Lawyers and attorneys are expected to be in high demand in the coming year. "It's one of those services that is hard to live without," Wolfgang said.

7. Automotive parts and tire stores are likely to keep doing well, Wolfgang said. "People are being more frugal and are choosing to extend the life of their current cars as opposed to buying new ones," she said.

8. Tax preparation, accounting and payroll services. "Everybody needs to pay their taxes every year, and businesses still need accountants," Wolfgang said.

9. Bars and other drinking establishments have proved to be recession-proof, Wolfgang said. "When times are rough, people need a bit of an escape," she added.
