Area unemployment unchanged in Feb.

After dropping steadily the past few months, unemployment levels changed little in the District, Maryland and Virginia in February, according to a Labor Department report released Friday.
The unemployment rates remained steady in the District, at 9.9 percent, and in Maryland, at 6.5 percent. Virginia’s jobless level dropped slightly — to 5.7 percent from 5.8 percent the month before.
Unemployment levels dropped in 29 states, rose in eight and remained steady in 13 states and the District.
Maryland and Virginia were below the national unemployment rate of 8.3 percent for February, while the District’s jobless rate was higher.
Nevada had the highest unemployment rate in February — 12.3 percent. North Dakota posted the lowest rate — 3.1 percent.
