Arnold & Porter advertising lawyers jump to Venable

Former Arnold & Porter counsel Randal Shaheen and Amy Mudge have joined the regulatory and advertising and marketing practice groups at Venable’s Washington office.

Shaheen and Mudge represent companies in litigation and regulatory proceedings, including investigations by the Federal Trade Commission, Justice Department, state prosecutors and the National Advertising Bureau.

Former CFTC commissioner joins Patton Boggs

Michael Dunn, a former commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, has joined lobbying powerhouse Patton Boggs as senior policy adviser.

Dunn was a CFTC commissioner from 2004 to 2011, and served as acting chairman in 2009 and chairman of the commission’s Agricultural Advisory Committee. Before joining the CFTC, Dunn was director of the Office of Policy and Analysis at the Farm Credit Administration and Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs.

McDermott adds DOJ lawyer for white collar group

McDermott Will & Emery has hired Justice Department attorney Jennifer Taylor for its 50-lawyer white collar and securities defense practice group.

Taylor was a prosecutor in the Justice Department’s Fraud Section of the Criminal Division for five years. She was previously a trial attorney in the Torts Branch of the Civil Division of the Justice Department and the enforcement division of the National Labor Relations Board, and an associate at Skadden Arps.

ACC adds two to staff

The Association of Corporate Counsel, the District-based trade group representing in-house lawyers, has hired Aracely Muñoz Petrich and Linda Kelly to lead the group’s programs for large law departments and chief legal officers, respectively.

Muñoz Petrich, who will also be associate general counsel, was previously director of the American Bar Association’s commission on racial and ethnic diversity and assistant corporate counsel of the labor division for the city of Chicago.

Kelly was director of George Mason Law School’s judicial education and state attorneys general programs, counsel for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and an associate at Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells).
