The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce holds its fourth annual “Char-a-oke,” or charity karaoke event, on Thursday, Aug 28.
Businesses, including Cardinal Bank, Cox Communications, Helios HR, John Marshall Bank and others, form teams to compete in the singing competition. Part of the proceeds go to the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Barns at Wolf Trap, 1635 Trap Road, Vienna, Va. $75 for individual tickets.
Monday, Aug. 25: McPherson Square Business Council and Admin Tech Consulting are holding a workshop on “LinkedIn on Steroids: Master LinkedIn Boot Camp Style.” The event begins at 11 a.m. at the City Club of Washington, 555 13th St. NW. $99.

The Loudoun Small Business Development Center is holding a networking event for federal contractors. Todd Myer, business performance adviser at Insperity, will talk about human resource strategies. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Mason Enterprise Center, 202 Church St. SE, First Floor Training Room, Leesburg.
On Monday, watch for data on new homes sales. An update on the sale of durable goods is out Tuesday, and the government offers its latest estimate of the gross domestic product on Thursday. On Friday comes data on household consumption.
