Gaithersburg-based Oil Price Information Service said it has acquired El Paso-based LCI Energy Insight, which provides natural gas supply and market analysis. Terms were not disclosed.
Bethesda-based RLJ Equity Partners said it has acquired Concord, Va.-based transportation company R. Thompson Trucking from Atlanta-based Linx Partners. Terms were not disclosed. The company’s name is to be changed to RLJ Thompson Trucking.
Rockville-based Federal Realty Investment Trust said that it has acquired the 438,000-square-foot East Bay Bridge shopping center in Emeryville and Oakland, Calif., for $53.7 million and assumption of an existing mortgage of $62.9 million.
Bethesda-based hotel real estate investment trust LaSalle Hotel Properties said that it has acquired a majority interest in the 298-room Liberty Hotel in Boston. The total value of the transaction was $170 million.
Contractors
Herndon-based education technology company K12 said it has been reauthorized by the Virginia Department of Education to continue as an approved multi-division online learning provider in Virginia.
Joint ventures
Annapolis-based High Street Partners, a provider of international business software and services, said it has formed two joint ventures with Hong Kong-based business and investor services firm Tricor Group. The joint ventures will operate in Japan under the name Tricor HSP Japan and in Singapore under the name Tricor HSP Singapore.

Chantilly-based energy technology company BlueScout Technology said it has laid off nine employees to conserve capital. The company said that the cost of defending against legal actions by founder and former chief executive Phil Rogers and his wife, Alisa, and their company, Optical Air Data Systems, has severely impacted cash flow.
