Two large government contracting-related events take place in the District this week.
The first, GovSec, which runs from Monday through Wednesday, focuses on security technology for government and law enforcement agencies.
The second, FOSE, which used to stand for Federal Office Systems Expo, runs from Tuesday through Thursday. This event focuses on technology for government agencies.
Speakers at the events, hosted by Chatsworth, Calif.-based 1105 Media, include former National Security Advisor Thomas Donilon, former FBI agent Richard DesLauriers, Col. Timothy P. Alben of the Massachusetts State Police, former Boston Police Department commissioner Edwin F. Davis and Boston Globe editor Brian McGrory.
Both events take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Pl. NW. Admission varies.
The Northern Virginia Technology Council holds a panel discussion on “Creating an Effective Advisory Board.” Speakers include Bobby Christian of Waterfall Software, Marissa Levin of Information Experts and Stefan T. Medford of Natural Insight. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at AOL, 44900 Prentice Dr., Dulles. $25 for members, $45 for everyone else.
TandemNSI, an effort to link national security innovators inside and outside the government, hosts a discussion on how companies can work with security agencies. Panelists include Brian Ballard of Apx Labs, Al Di Leonardo of Human Geo, Nick Lantuh of NetWitiness and Michael Pozmantier of the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate. The free event begins a 1 p.m. at Union Market, Dock 5, 1309 Fifth St. NE.
The Tech Council of Maryland’s Industry Awards Celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Rd., Rockville. $195 for members, $295 for everyone else.
The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s Government Contracting Network Procurement Conference begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Dr., Rockville. $120.
