If Mitt Romney wins the election, it will him the second-wealthiest president in our nation’s history. Here’s a list of the richest presidents, ranked by 24/7 Wall Street according to their net worth in 2010 dollars.

10. Bill Clinton

Net worth: $38 million. Clinton has largely amassed his wealth after leaving the presidency, with much of his money coming from speaking appearances and books he has written.

Net income: $60 million. Roosevelt came into a great deal of his wealth through inheritance and marriage, 24/7 Wall Street reports.

Net worth: $75 million. Hoover's millions came from his career as a mining company executive.

Net worth: $125 million. Some of Roosevelt's wealth came from a trust fund courtesy of his wealthy family. He later earned money as an author.

3. Thomas Jefferson

Net worth: $212 million. The third president inherited 3,000 acres of land from his father, 24/7 Wall Street reports. He later went on to amass further land holdings, including the plot of his famed Monticello mansion in Virginia.

2. George Washington

Net worth: $525 million. The nation's first president was paid more than other commanders-in-chief, 24/7 Wall Street reports. In 1789, his salary made up 2 percent of the federal budget. In addition to his income as president, Washington owned about 8,000 acres of land and had a wealthy wife in Martha Washington.

Net worth: $1 billion. Kennedy's father had amassed a great fortune, a piece of which the president stood to inherit had he not died so young. His wife, Jacqueline Kennedy, also came from a wealthy family.
