The American Psychiatric Association panel members who revised the definition of depression in the APA handbook have reported a number of financial ties to pharmaceutical companies. Members are allowed to receive as much as $10,000 a year in industry pay, hold as much as $50,000 in industry stock and receive unlimited amounts of research money. Read related article.
