Euro design didn't smooth out economies

Despite hope that the creation of the euro would draw investment to the southern euro zone, Eastern European countries outside the currency union have gotten a bigger bump. They are intermediate suppliers to Germany and the rest of the European Union, while southern Europe has fallen behind. Read related article.
