States’ Medicaid expenditures
Expenditures for Medicaid as a part of the total spending for each state in 2010 varied from 7.3 percent in Wyoming to 37.1 percent in North Carolina. The majority of states allot between 20 to 30 percent of their total spending to Medicaid. The U.S. average is 21.8 percent. Each state’s expenditures are partially covered by federal funding.
