The many faces of Android

Depending on which phone company is doing the marketing, an Android phone can be masculine and futuristic, like a shoot-’em-up video game, or friendly, like a stuffed animal.

In 2009, Motorola released the Droid, the company's first smartphone to run on the Android operating system. It was also Verizon's first Android offering.

Motorola's Droid Razr hit stores in November 2011. It is thinner than any other smartphone on the market, and reviewer Nilay Patel of The Verge called the device "the best phone Motorola's ever put together."
