Fast Company magazine recently came out with their list of the top 10 most innovative biotech companies. Here’s who made the cut.

No. 1: Amyris

Amyris topped Fast Company's list of the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Biotech for developing a drug called artemisinin that kills malaria-causing parasites.

No. 2: Omeros

Seattle-based Omeros came in at No. 2 for developing “a new test to identify potential drug receptors.”

Galapagos took the No. 4 spot on Fast Company’s list for its “super-efficient drug pipeline.”

Taking the No. 5 spot is Amgen, which developed a new “osteoporosis drug that could also battle hormonal breast cancer.”

Fate Therapeutics came in at No. 6 for “devising an innovative way to test drugs on human cells.”

NovaBay CEO Dr. Ron Najafi helped his company reach No. 7 on Fast Company's list for "antibiotic-like compounds that fight their battles by mimicking the human immune system."

Oncogenex landed the No. 8 spot on Fast Company's list for "protein-targeting, chemo-boosting cancer treatments."

The Myelin Repair Foundation landed at No. 9 on the list for "its unorthodox, highly collaborative approach to drug development."
