Vying for new Web suffixes
Google was one of the most prolific applicants for new Web suffixes, making 101 applications. Amazon filed 76. The two companies applied for the same suffix in five instances: .app, .book, .cloud, .free and .store. Each application carries a fee of $185,000. Read related article.
