Waitress vs. the pastor: Who was right?

Earlier this month, an Applebee's waitress shared a receipt from a customer, a pastor, that crossed out the tip and wrote: “I give God 10% Why do you Get 18?” The receipt was published on Reddit and the waitress was fired. Should she have been fired?
