Farmstand: An app for farmer’s market season

Spring is in the air, and that means that it’s just about farmer’s market season — when you can get fresh food from local producers. But if you’ve just moved to a new area or are just not that plugged in to the one you’re in, you may be at a loss when it comes to finding where (or when) your friendly neighborhood market is operating.

Farmstand is here to help. The app, for iOS devices, depends on user-generated data to let shoppers know the locations and hours of their local markets. Obviously, the information in your area gets better the more people in your area use the app.

As a growing community of vendors and users participate, the app also lets you add further information, such as whether the market takes SNAP food stamps. Users can also add photos and comments to the listings to share what’s on offer that week or offer advice on who the best vendors are. And if you don’t have a good community on the app yet? Well, you can help create one. Free, for iOS devices.
