TechBits: Unroll.me Web app cleans the clutter from your inbox

June 30, 2012

There’s one kind of app that I’m always looking for — anything that can make managing e-mail easier. Unroll.me, a Web app, has recently launched with a new look that makes it easier to manage your Gmail account. (Support for Yahoo is in the works.) The service scans your Google mail for subscription mailings, and pulls them into a “daily rollup” before they hit your inbox.

From the Unroll.me site, you can choose to stay subscribed to those daily deals, listservs and other inbox-cloggers or to unsubscribe from them in one click. If it pulls in a more personal e-mail by mistake, you always can return it to your inbox. Users should know that they can miss e-mails if they aren’t checking Unroll.me every day, however, so browsing the site or its digest e-mails should become a daily ritual. Free, for Gmail users.
