In a final holiday push, Amazon is offering free shipping to anyone who wants to get a Kindle Fire or other Kindle model into stockings by Christmas.
The offer, rolled out Tuesday, is good until 8 p.m. on Dec. 21, the company said in a news release.
Amazon recently broke its customary silence on sales figures and gave hard numbers for how many Kindle Fire devices it had sold, revealing that the new tablet reader was selling over 1 million units per week. The company is currently advertising the reader as its most-gifted and most-wished-for item.
There have been some complaints about the Kindle Fire’s performance in recent weeks, with consumers saying that the $199 device has some poor design features, a slow browser and an interface that makes it too easy for others to see user device history. But it’s far too early to call the device a dud. The convenience of easy access to Amazon’s content — such as books and movies — and the price could help the company overcome those limitations.
Customers rushing to the online store to cash in on the deal simply have to select two-day shipping from their list of options.
Amazon already provides free two-day shipping to anyone with a $79 per year Amazon Prime membership.
