Analyst: ‘iPad 3’ coming in February
By Hayley Tsukayama,
Citi analyst Richard Gardner is saying that “several sources” are telling him that Apple is planning to release its next version of the iPad in February. According to a report from Business Insider, Gardner said that the next version of Apple’s tablet will sport the double-resolution screen and that Apple appears to have cleared any “significant tech hurdles” on that front.
It’s become a bold thing to predict the launch date of Apple products, since the company has been changing its established release schedule, pushing the launch of its latest iPhone back from its traditional summer release.
Gardner predicts that Apple will sell 12 million-13 million iPads in the December quarter.
But customers may hold off on snagging iPads, with all the rumors that the next version of the iPad is coming so close to the holiday season.
Other speculation about the iPad include reports that it will be slightly thicker to accommodate its higher-resolution screen, and that Apple may introduce a cheaper, possibly smaller “iPad mini” to the product line.
At this point in time, it may be worth remembering that the “iPad 3” or “iPad HD” was rumored to be launching this past October with the “iPhone 5.”
