New documents have emerged suggesting Amazon will produce a new Kindle Fire tablet to sell alongside the current 7-inch version.
The device’s dimensions, as described in the documents by The Digital Reader Blog, make it likely that the tablet will have a screen size that’s similar to the iPad (about 10 inches) and debut sometime this fall. The original Kindle Fire made its debut in late November, which could indicate that Amazon is waiting a full year between new product launches.

The documents were filed with the Federal Communications Commission by Harpers LLC, which could be a “front” company set up by Amazon to mask the trail of approvals needed prior to launching a product — thus keeping competitors in the dark about Amazon’s tablet plans. Amazon has also used front/shadow companies prior to launching other versions of its Kindle, such as the Kindle Touch and Kindle Fire.
Adding further fuel to the larger Kindle Fire rumor mill is the price drop to Amazon’s Kindle DX. VentureBeat’s Jolie O’Dell previously pointed out that the current Kindle DX never quite fit in with the other e-reader devices and that the lowered price could be a way to clear old inventory to make room for something new.
