Droid RAZR coming in Nov. for Verizon

By ,

Verizon and Motorola unveiled a new phone with a familiar name Tuesday: the Droid RAZR.

If you techies can reach all the way back in your minds to, oh, say, the early aughts, you’ll remember that the RAZR name was associated with a super-thin flip phone that was all the rage for a little while. Now Motorola is bringing back that name and all the physical associations that come with it.

The Droid RAZR will be a 4G smartphone with a ridiculous profile — under 0.3 inches (7.1 mm) thick. The phone will have a 4.3-inch super AMOLED screen, will run Gingerbread, have 1 GB of RAM and an 8MP rear-facing camera that will shoot 1080p HD video.

The phone is also designed to hold its own against everyday wear and tear. Verizon said in a release that the phone will have a coating that helps it repel water and that its case is made of Kevlar fibers.

The phone will be up for pre-order in early November for $299.99 with a two-year customer agreement. The phone requires a $39.99 talk plan and the $30 2GB data plan.
