Facebook has made enough announcements in the past month to last until next year’s f8 developer conference, but TechCrunch reports that more may be on the way. For months, the tech community has been expecting the social network to launch a mobile application based on HTML-5 and an iPad app. According to the report, Facebook has scheduled the launch event for next week.
The mobile platform, the report said, will let users bookmark apps, search for apps more easily and streamline the process used to invite friends to use an app.
The report also says that Facebook is ready to launch its iPad app — something that it’s reportedly been on the verge of doing for months. Mashable said there’s a chance that the app will launch at Apple’s Oct. 4 iPhone event, but that reportedly depends on how discussions between the two companies go before Monday.
Many expected to see Facebook launch the platform and the app at its f8 conference last week alongside its plans to completely redesign the site.
