WWDC 2012: Apple iOS 6 coming, banners show
By Hayley Tsukayama,
The next version of Apple’s iOS is going to be unveiled at its Worldwide Developers Conference, according to snapshots of some new signage captured by Instagram user Zac Altman.
The banners going up at the San Francisco convention center, Moscone West, where the event will be held, feature a new logo for iOS 6 as well as the familiar iOS tagline, “The world’s most advanced mobile operating system.” MacRumors noted that the banner shows the number 6 in white over a background of rippling water.
CNET has some other shots of the convention center which bear enormous pictures of Apple’s logo and the words “WWDC 2012.”
Minimalist design from Apple, who’d have guessed?
Still unconfirmed, of course, are any real details about the new operating system, which is expected to have its own maps app and Facebook integration.
Other theories around iOS 6 also have the operating system showcasing better performance from Apple’s virtual assistant app Siri and her presence on the iPad, 9 to 5 Mac reported.
Citing unnamed sources, the blog has also said Siri will have iCloud Tabs, which will sync your Safari Web browser across multiple devices and a “Do not Disturb” feature, which will mute notifications on the phone.
