The best ways to break up long car rides this summer

RoadTrippers
A balm for long car rides

Planning a summer road trip? If you’re looking to fill in some spots between points A and B, try out RoadTrippers, the companion app to the trip-planning Web site of the same name. The app lets you plot your course and highlights points of interest along the way that may be worth adding to your journey. Users can share points of interests with friends on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or pin them to their Pinterest accounts. You can also save interesting places to an in-app “bucket list.”

The app also offers you a basic estimate of mileage, time on the road and the cost of gas. Once you hit the road, the app will act as a navigator, with turn-by-turn directions.

You will need an account to use it, which also lets you access the RoadTrippers Web site to edit your plans from your desktop. Free, for iOS and Android devices.
