Apple Inc. closed U.S. retail stores for several hours Wednesday so employees could watch a simulcast of a company-wide celebration of co-founder Steve Jobs's life, which was being held at an outdoor amphitheater at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., a person familiar with the celebration said.
