Two rescued baby blue-fronted Amazon parrots are held at Teniente Agripino Enciso National Park in Paraguay. Police rescued 211 protected parrots taken from the remote forests of Paraguay and made four arrests. Stealing wild animals and plants is a crime in Paraguay, punishable by up to eight years in prison. The parrots are being cared for by government biologists and will be returned to the wild once they can fly.

Four-week-old Jamil, center, a greater one-horned rhinoceros, stands by his mother, Behan, at an enclosure at Whipsnade Zoo in Britain. The rhino, one of Whipsnade’s newest arrivals, weighed in at 130 pounds at birth. The young rhino made his first pubic appearance, stepping out from his paddock for the first time to be counted in the annual animal census.

That’s a pretty exotic diet for animals living in an area where alfalfa hay normally is abundant.
