Are average SAT and ACT scores at a high school a bad thing?
The National Association for College Admission Counseling says they are deceptive and not helpful to parents in picking high schools. They recommend instead reporting the 25 to 75 percent percentile range. I think that is useful in picking a college, to see the range of its incoming freshman class, but average SAT for a high school is a useful measure, and parents don’t want educators to mess with it.
