It’s the end of togetherness for these giant tortoises - and more in animal views. Fun and fascinating creatures around the world.
An undated picture released by the Klagenfurt zoo in southern Austria shows Bibi and Poldi, two giant tortoises that have been living together for 36 years at the zoo. Zoo officials had to separate the two tortoises, which cannot stand each other anymore, said Elga Happ, zoo warden.

In this image provided by SeaWorld San Diego, five African-spurred tortoises, also known as sulcata tortoises, enjoy time on the grass at the wildlife park. The adult, Buster, is about 20 years old, and the young ones are just under a year old. Sulcata tortoises are native to northern Africa and can live to be 100. Sulcata tortoises are common in pet stores, but are often relinquished by their pet owners, who aren't prepared for how big they get (they can weigh as much as 150 pounds).

Wania, a 26-year-old male bear, looks on from his cage in a private shelter in Korabiewice, near Warsaw. The Four Paws International Animal Welfare Foundation, together with Viva, a local nongovernmental organization, saved the last three privately kept bears in Poland. The three bears, originally abused by being forced to participate in dog fights and circus performances, had been confiscated and brought to Korabiewice, where they have been living in tiny concrete cages and suffering behavioral disorders and serious health problems. In cooperation with local authorities, Four Paws will transfer the bears to a new sanctuary in Poland.

Gannets nest on Bass Rock in Dunbar, Scotland. Every January, Atlantic gannets start returning to Bass Rock, with 150,000 or more making it the largest single rock gannet colony. They return with the same mate and often use the same nest each year, spending most of the year on the Rock. They leave at the end of October, when the last of the chicks travel down to the western coast of Africa.
