Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., salutes surviving members of the Montford Point Marines, during a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony at the Capitol. Almost 400 people attended the ceremony. Montford Point Marines were the first African Americans to serve in the Marine Corps. Nearly 20,000 African Americans trained at the segregated Montford Point in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
