Should we let grandfathers like me involve ourselves in the college admissions process?
I have posted on my Class Struggle blog a fine piece by veteran college counselor Peter Jennings suggesting we get grandparents involved in the college admissions process. We are kind. We are knowledgeable. We are not resented by the applicants as much as many of them resent their parents. We are less judgmental.
I am thinking of putting a column in the paper quoting Jennings but going beyond his gentle suggestion and asserting we grandparents should be the designated drivers on the college tour because we are just better than parents at it. I as grandparent am better at it than when I was a parent. Are Jennings and I right or wrong?
