So broke it’s breaking the home
I started to answer this for a column, but then it occurred to me this could use a multidisciplinary answer -- not just from a relationship ruminator like me, but also from the lawyers and tax experts and bankers and government types who dwell here, and mental-health pros, and the skeptics/cynics/gadflies/counter-thinkers, and the always invaluable been-there crowd. So, here goes:
“Through a series of actions and decisions (mostly surrounding a failed business), my husband has devastated our finances. It’s unlikely that we will ever be secure again, much less comfortable. I love him, but I am so filled with grief and seething rage that I don’t know how I will get through the next month, much less 20 more years with him. (We have little kids and divorce is not an option -- even if I could afford it.) Please can you help me find some peace in all this?”
So, where does she start?
