TV highlights: ‘Community’ comes back

RETURNING SHOW: “Community” (NBC at 8 p.m.) is brought back to life, with Season 5 beginning with two new back-to-back episodes. In the premiere, Jeff returns to Greendale and the Dean organizes a reunion for the study group in hopes that Jeff is back to help save the school.

RETURNING SHOW: Season 2 of “The Taste” (ABC at 8) opens with cooks auditioning for 16 spots in the reality competition, which are decided by four celebrity chefs, including Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain.

RETURNING SHOW : “Mysteries at the Museum” (Travel at 9) begins its sixth season with an investigation into the healing powers of a glass armonica and a look at a secret message that was smuggled across enemy lines during the Civil War.

Rosie Pierri from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” gets set up on “The Millionaire Matchmaker” (Bravo at 9) while Patti’s other client is an underwear designer.

SERIES PREMIERE: The eight-part drama “The Assets” (ABC at 10) introduces the story of two female CIA counter-intelligence agents in 1985 who help hunt down a mole in their ranks to save the lives of Soviet agents spying for the United States.

SERIES PREMIERE: Witness some of the most deadly situations ever caught on tape while asking yourself if you would have what it takes to come out alive on the new reality show “Do or Die” (Nat Geo at 10).

RETURNING SHOW: Comedian Nick Swardson is back to break down outrageous viral videos in the Season 4 premiere of “Ridiculousness” (MTV at 10), and that’s followed by another new episode hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg.

SERIES PREMIERE: New reality series “Toned Up” (Bravo at 10:30) follows Internet fitness gurus and besties/roommates Katrina Dawn and Karena Hodgson as they use their “yoga smarts” to push themselves and their brand to wild extremes.

Television personality Stephen Colbert and actor Ian McKellen are on the “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), with a musical performance from Chvrches.

Country star Blake Shelton and “Today” hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb come to “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC at 11:35), with musical guest Imelda May.

Actors Colin Farrell and Jeanne Tripplehorn join “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC at 11:35), with a musical performance from Megadeth.
