TV highlights: ‘New Girl’ and ‘The Mindy Project’ wrap up their respective seasons

“Pioneers of Television” (MPT and WETA at 8 p.m.) peeks into a comedian’s backstage preparations before they perform, with insights from Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters, Tina Fey and Cloris Leachman.

The artists with the lowest number of votes sing once more for the viewers’ sole “Instant Save” round on “The Voice” (NBC at 8).

With an increasingly damaging reputation as a diva, Rachel enlists the help of Santana on “Glee” (Fox at 8) and starts an animal charity.

FINALE WATCH: “New Girl” (Fox at 9) Season 3 wraps up with the gang on a cruise and Winston attempting to mend Jess and Nick’s relationship.

SERIES PREMIERE: The reality show “Alaskan Bush People” (Discovery at 10) follows Billy Brown, his wife Ami and their seven grown children, who are so far removed from civilization that they often go six to nine months without seeing an outsider, have developed their own dialect and sleep in a one-room cabin together.

The team receives five different numbers from the machine to investigate while looking into what could be a catastrophic event on “Person of Interest” (CBS at 10).

RETURNING SHOW: “Freakshow” (AMC at 10 and 10:30) Season 2 opens with two new episodes that begin with Todd in search of new performers for his show, where he meets a man with extraordinarily stretchy skin.

Amy objects to a wedding and breaks up with her boyfriend on her sketch comedy show “Inside Amy Schumer” (Comedy Central at 10:30).

RETURNING SHOW: The reality show “Small Town Security” (AMC at 11) is back for its third season with Chief wanting to capi­tal­ize on the Speecy Spicy Meatball idea.

“The Colbert Report” (Comedy Central at 11:30) hosts a chat with actress, singer and author Bette Midler.

Actors Seth Rogen and Matt Bomer come to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (NBC at 11:35), with music from Coldplay.

Actors Jon Cryer and Elizabeth Olsen stop by the “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), along with a musical performance from Foster the People.

Actors Jon Hamm and Emma Roberts are on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC at 11:35), with music from Kid Ink featuring Travis Barker.
