From award-winning filmmaker John Downer, “Penguins: Waddle All the Way” (Discovery at 9 p.m.) dedicates two hours to exploring the secrets of the elusive world of penguins. The film, which uses specially designed equipment, such as penguin “spy” cameras, gives viewers unprecedented access to these feisty and adorable birds.
SERIES PREMIERE: The newest British import, “Atlantis” (BBC America at 9), is a fantasy adventure series set in a time of legendary heroes and mythical creatures in the lost city of Atlantis. Cast members include Mark Addy, Jemima Rooper and Juliet Stevenson.
If you loved “Sharknado” and/or hate yourself, “Stonados” (Syfy at 9) could be your Saturday night delight — it’s in the same ridiculous vein, but instead of sharks causing absolute mayhem, rocks do. Boring, inanimate rocks.

SERIES PREMIERE: The latest comedy from Chris Lilley, “Ja’mie: Private School Girl” (HBO at 10:30), follows the eponymous school captain during the last few months of her final year of school, far removed from the grounds of Summer Heights High and back on the lush manicured lawns of Hillford Girls Grammar School.
