Sarah, 23, is a registered nurse. Ryan, 31, is a CPA. They live in Alexandria.
The Main Event: They wed Nov. 19 in a Lutheran ceremony. About 150 friends and family looked on, and then celebrated in Tysons Corner.
How They Met: After church. “I walked near her, tried to make eye contact, but got totally ignored.”
First Date: “That’s a complicated question,” Ryan says. “I knew I first like-liked her when I agreed to watch her dog over New Year’s 2011. She left me a CD and a note.”
How He Proposed: “Ryan told me we weren’t dating, just ‘hanging out, being really good friends,’ through May. He proposed in June.” By the toilet. “Thankfully, as I kneeled before the throne, she said yes,” he says.
Their Song: “Something Beautiful” by Needtobreathe. “It expresses our love for each other and our love for Christ.”
Pet Names: He calls her “Sarah Love of My Life Runzheimer.” “It’s a mouthful but gets to the heart of why I’m marrying her.”
Celebrating Heritage: “Our faith is important to who we are and why we love one another,” Sarah says.
