Felicia Sonmez has been a congressional reporter for The Washington Post since November 2010 and is the lead author of 2chambers, the Post's blog covering politics and policy on Capitol Hill.
Prior to covering Congress, Felicia covered campaigns and national politics for three years. She joined The Washington Post in May 2010 as a blogger for The Fix, Chris Cillizza's politics blog, where she covered Senate, House and gubernatorial races. In July 2010, she was named a Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellow by the National Press Foundation.
Before joining the Post, Felicia spent a year as an associate editor and staff writer at National Journal's The Hotline, the leading daily briefing on campaigns, where she co-edited the popular "Wake Up Call!" morning political tipsheet and contributed to Hotline's "On Call" blog. During the 2008 election cycle, she reported on the presidential race from three-dozen states and five countries for The Asahi Shimbun, Japan's leading daily newspaper.
A native of Hackensack, New Jersey, Felicia graduated from Harvard University in 2005 with a degree in Government. Before moving to Washington in September 2007, she taught English and speechwriting for a year as a Princeton-in-Asia fellow at China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing. She lives on Capitol Hill.
