Hosni Mubarak came to power in Egypt nearly 30 years ago. Here's a look at his tenure.

July 24, 1990

Mubarak is greeted in Baghdad by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, who had massed troops, tanks and anti-aircraft missiles on the border with Kuwait shortly before the Persian Gulf War began. Mubarak was trying to bring about a peaceful solution to the crisis.
