Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, a showcase featuring two of D.C.'s leading Spanish-language rock bands.
In a nice changeup from all the mariachi music on May 5, DC9 is hosting a showcase with two of the area's finest Rock en Espanol bands. Headlining is Nayas, which deftly shifts from rootsy reggae to ska to introspective rock. Get there early for Machetres, a hard-hitting punk trio who perform songs about social injustice in both Spanish and English. (They've shared the stage with Fugazi and El Vez, among others.) DJ Rockactivo provides the tunes between and after bands.
