Halloween Graveyard Jam

Editorial Review

There's never a dull moment at Things to Do DC's annual Halloween party. Party games (including bobbing for apples), caricaturists and dancing to salsa, retro and current Top 40 hits are all on the agenda, along with drink specials and free food for early arrivals. The requisite costume contests have categories like Scariest, Prettiest and Most Original, but the prizes are serious: best in show, for example, gets a weekend in Aruba.

The formula rarely changes from year to year, and the Hard Rock Cafe is a cheesy tourist trap, but the Graveyard Jam is a perennially hot event -- more than 1,000 twenty- and thirty-somethings have attended in recent years. Tickets are $12 in advance from www.thingstododc.com.
