Now that D.C. Beer Week is fading into memory, let’s look back on a local brewery that delivers good beer at a cheap price every day. District Chophouse has been brewing on Seventh Street NW since the late ’90s, and current brewer Barrett Laurer excels at both English and traditional German-style ales and lagers. (His traditional Oktoberfest beer is a perennial favorite.)
The best time to visit is on weekdays between 4 and 7 p.m., when the house beers are $3 per pint at the bar and in the comfortable Brewer’s Lounge on the mezzanine level. Ask before you order: Some of the special seasonal beers don’t get the discount.
