This large Penn Quarter pub, from the owners of Rocket Bar, features vintage motorcycles, 20 draft beers and plenty of big-screen TVs.
The bartenders and staff here are excellent. While I do play in the Skee Ball league here, there's more than enough space and plenty of games to accommodate everyone else. Iron Horse is the not-evil cousin of Rocket Bar. Like everything in Gallery Place/Chinatown, it gets crowded on the weekends but the barkeeps are more than up to the task and the ample room make it a better choice than some other spots. The decision to leave out a kitchen and focus on serving beer and creating more space for hanging out was a good one given all the food options in the area. I would recommend this to people that outgrow Rocket Bar or are looking for something better than RFD and the Green Turtle before or after a Verizon Center event.
If it was possible to give it 0 stars, I would. I went there one night with two friends from out of town and, despite having only two diet Cokes and not drinking a sip of alcohol, was treated like a drunken bum and physically assaulted by one of their downstairs bouncers. Not a sip of alcohol. I filed a police report against the bouncer, and the management of the facility refused to fire the guy or give me his name so I could properly identify him in the police report. Although they refused to cooperate with the police report or fire a guy who has some pretty obvious anger issues, they did offer to refund me for my two diet cokes. Hilarious. I'll never go here again, but more out of fear for my life and safety than the price of a diet coke.
