July 4 at Hill Country Backyard Barbecue

Please note: This event has already occurred.
Expect a small-town Americana vibe at Hill Country Barbecue's pop-up party on the National Building Museum's lawn. Gates open at noon on Thursday, with live music all day by country singer-songwriters Mic Harrison & Kevin Abernathy (beginning at noon), local rockers South Rail (3 p.m.) and alt-country singer Justin Jones (6 p.m.). The chefs will be grilling a whole hog; a plate of meat and a side sells for $10. If you're playing hooky on Friday, there's a special lunchtime set by blues-rockers Timothy Bracken Complex, but no pig roast - just the usual delicious barbecue, Shiner Bock and margaritas in a park-like setting.
