All the action isn't in Georgetown on Halloween. A dozen blocks away, downtown bars are hosting their own "Nightmare on M Street" bar crawl, featuring costumes and food and beer specials. A $20 cover (in advance from LindyPromo.com) is good for specials at every bar, including $2 Coors Lite, $3 Blue Moon beers and $4 Captain Morgan and Jeremiah Weed sweet tea vodka drinks.

Register at Mackey's, McFadden's or the Front Page, and then party until close with no cover at the 11 other participating bars: Rumors, BlackFinn, Ozio, the Exchange, Public Bar, Madhatter, Bread 'n' Brew, James Hoban's, Singapore Bistro and Steve's Bar Room.

This crawl tends to attract a lot of participants, so your best bets are to go early or to pick some of the off-the-beaten-track places if you want to get your money's worth without waiting in long lines. (Steve's Bar Room and James Hoban's might be good places to start.)

We got there at 8:00 and were able to get into the first three bars with no trouble. Ozios was rocking, everyone dressed up and it was real sweet. The Mad Hatter was selective in letting people in. We waited for over 45 min. and they took people from out of the line and behind us in line. Even tho we were next. After about 30 or so people were let in in front of us we left with a few others following us. I won't go back there but the other places: Mackeys, Singapore Bistro, Rumors, Ozios and Bread and Brew were great!!!

Bottom line: Totally not worth the trouble or the money. We spend three hours there, got into one bar, and due to overcrowding, stood at the bar (after waiting for over 30 minutes to find an open spot at the bar), and were not served. Save your time, and your money, and find something else to do. Or pregame and watch other people go in and out of bars.
