This is a relaxing place to grab a hearty meal and on Tuesdays it serves up some of the best Dixieland jazz in the District.

One Friday evening, I was in a party of people who each ordered a meal and then we continued to talk and started to drink. Myself and another female, bored of beer, started on the tequilas. After four each, we independently felt that the drink was watered down. After four tequilas, we should have felt something - btw none of us are particularly heavy drinkers. Also the service was excruciatingly slow. When we complained, they just denied it. They certainly didn't offer to repay something off the bill. We spent over $130 and walked out sober. I certainly won't be visiting it again.
I was a regular customer for years, but ever since they hired those two slow booger bears waitresses, their service went downhill. Those girls act like you’re on their time. They are so slow that the bus boy has to seat customers and take orders. I will never visit them again.
Of course we don't have a lot of choice around here, but we really like this place. Nice atmosphere - laid back and food is good. Nice place to go on a weeknight or weekend when you don't feel like cooking and don't want to fight to park or the traffic downtown.
I'm not sure what people are expecting when visiting the Colonel. It may not be gourmet, but it is about the best you're going to get from your local [pub]. I, like a good deal of the neighborhood, wander down to 9th and Monroe several times a week. The food is good pub grub, and there's always something to talk about. If you want fine dining, hit downtown. You want to have a beer, a bite and shoot the shit? Colonel Brooks.
